As a designer I enjoy seeing the work of other fabulous designers but I try not to overthink their work. I feel like it will definitely influence what I present to a client and I want to stay true to myself and my style.
HOWEVER, there is one designer that I can never, ever get enough of. When I'm dry for ideas, he's the one I seek out. Can you guess who it is? Geez, maybe the title of the post gave it away:! The brilliant Jonathan Adler!!
While he's a traditionalist, his rooms are filled with bright colour and lots of fun.
This has been a favourite room for some time. There is not a single detail left undone.
This could easily have been a very boring room if not for the well placed pops of bold colour and the not-too-serious accessories.
I am so gobsmacked by his ability to always tie colour back and forth throughout his rooms.
He had me at chevron but could easily have won me over with the turquoise.
To. Die. For. Nuff said!
Adler was commissioned by Mattel to design a house for Barbie to celebrate her 50th birthday. It's an over the top crazy fun house.

He is amazing. A-MAZ-ING! I love that he doesn't take himself so seriously. Although he's incredibly successful, he still refers to himself as a potter. That dining room is one of the best rooms ever.
ReplyDeleteLove him! Did you know that Barnes & Noble stores carry some of his things like book ends? They are pretty affordable too.
ReplyDeleteLove JA. Don't know if I could be completely happy living everyday in his typical spaces, but I am always inspired by his sense of fun! You're right, he's a traditionalist with a fantastic sense of humor!
ReplyDeletefun stuff! these are all so bright and pretty!
ReplyDeleteI want the dogs by the fireplace! And love the orange zigzag carpet/boxes!

Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. I can't get enough of that guy either and spend *WAY* more time than I should drooling over his fabulous accessories (c: And that tufted blue number is *killing* me Jonathan, why do you torture me so??? (c: Enjoy your Memorial Day...
ReplyDeleteHe is an amazing designer with his own signature fun and whimsical style and I really enjoy his work. One of my all time favorite is the dining room with the orange chevron rug! I am not sure if I can live in some of his crazier rooms but his designs are always inspiring, for sure!
ReplyDeleteI also did a post on him recently. Check it out:

ReplyDeleteI love JA — and these new items are great. They stay true to his colorful/fun aesthetic but definitely a different direction. Particularly love the acapulco inspired tableware/pillows and of course the dachshund! Can’t wait for these new products to launch.
