Kelly Green - Strong & Sassy Colour

You probably know by now that kelly green aka emerald green is hot, hot, hot for both interiors and fashion.  I think it would be a tricky colour to work with but can be remarkable if done well.  My thoughts are that a very neutral palette would work best with this because I am definitely of the opinion that kelly green doesn't play nice with too many other colours.

Let's take a little tour of kelly green shall we...

If an entire room in kelly green seems too daunting why not try just a pop of kelly green with an accessory.

If you feel brave enough to paint some walls in kelly green here's a great option.

  1. Great photos! I love the idea of green with grey...Grey is so popular right now, but needs to be combined with a great colour to really work. I hadn't thought of it 'til I saw the pic with the grey sofa, but this really works!

    Thanks!

  2. I love kelly green!!! You might even see it pop up on a design board that I'm working on. I like how crisp it looks next to all the white in that bathroom shot.

  3. I love it with black and white! But I feel like I am not half as sophisticated as one would need to be to pull it off.

  5. A hard color to work with I'd think (never really used a large does of it in an interior) but the results look to be worth the effort of getting it right! Janell

  6. This color is beautiful but it really takes someone with a really good design eye to pull this off! Like you said, an easier way to do it right is to use them for accessories!

  7. It's not really my thing - but a pillow or accessory to bring in a touch of it would be nice :)

  9. It seems like kelly green is one of those things that you either love or hate. I like it, but I agree, you do have to know what you are doing to pull it off.

  10. I can't say I would paint a wall in that colour but I sewed a pillow with green Imperial Trellis and it is starting to wear off on me. Maybe I will add a touch of it to my living room!

  11. I LOVE green!
I think Kelly green would be so much fun to work with - a challenge to get it just right, but awesome if you do...

  12. I like Kelly green in hits scattered around a room, but not for an entire wall. I wonder why it's called "Kelly" green???

  13. Wish I was bold enough to add it to my own home. Although, I think the pillows on the sofa would be a very nice touch! Gorgeous color!

  14. I love a touch of emerald/kelly green in home decor, and actually wrote an article on this colour not that long ago. It seems to be 'here' in a BIG way!
    Great post!

  16. Oh yes please! This is one of my favourite colours! I experiment with it more in terms of fashion but we used to have a bathroom this colour and it was my favourite room in the house!

  17. Green is one of my favorite colors. I'd love to see a room done in kelly green, navy and white, with an emphasis on the white. Not sure about painting the walls in that bold a color though.

  19. You know I love a Kelly green! Those green and white chevron drapes got me all excited! I will have dreams about them! With the dark gloomy season ahead I could really use a pop of Kelly green! Thanks for the inspiration!

  20. That's a lot of green :) I like the green accessories - especially the slim jade vase - and can already think of several places I can use them in my home.

  21. Sorry, I can't do the kelly green. For some reason it makes me want to visit the Emerald City :) (perhaps this is why I need to hire an interior designer!)
