Pantone Colour of the Year 2012

It's that time again colour lovers.  The time when the illustrious global colour expert, Pantone, sets their Colour of the Year announcement for the upcoming year.  And the winner for 2012 is...Tangerine Tango.

"Sophisticated but at the same time dramatic and seductive" is how Pantone's executive director describes this year's winner.  Scrumpdelicious is how I describe it.  I love how electric it is and rather than being overwhelmingly orange it's toned way down with red.

How will you be incorporating tangerine tango into your life?

  1. Carol,

I've always loved orange and red-orange so I find this news exciting ... retailers should be offering more items in this colorway soon! And for those of us with a lot of turquoise in our homes - that would be me (was that the 2010 Pantone color?) tangerine can be such a good color pairing and I've been shopping for that very color recently for accents (without success).

Love those example photos you selected.

  2. I agree with Carol (last commenter), I love this colour mixed with turquoise and that's my favourite colour right now! Last year's colour was gorgeous, but a bit limiting (pink)....

Thanks for sharing. You're the first one to post this.

  3. I don't think I could live with this as a wall color, but shots of it in accessories would be fun in a home office or play room.

  4. I am glad to see a better color than last year's pick!! I can live with tangerine, and love it paired with chocolates and turquoise. Thanks for sharing. I was just wondering when the new color would come out!

  7. Bold! I like orange (I like red, less) but I'm so surprised this was chosen because I've read that orange is a pretty unpopular colour. Maybe this will change people's minds.

  9. I've never been very attracted to orange, but, this is a pretty shade. I like its deep, almost brown undertones.
Thanks for your sweet comments on my Christmas decorating post. I had such grand plans before my injuries, and I just can't follow through with them now without killing myself! :(
    Have a great day, Carol!

  11. I've never been an orange gal, but I'm really drawn to the pillow. Maybe it's because of the great pattern. I also like the sweater...maybe I do like orange after all.

  13. I'm going against the masses because I'm not sure I will be tangoing with tango. Maybe on the toes but not the house!

  17. I am not fond of orange but laughed as my "client" whom I have been helping with her room has been asking for a spicey-orange colour. Have been searching for fabric that is geometric to fit the bill and nothing. Hoping fabric manufacturers will get the ball rolling!

  18. Maybe some accessories but not walls. I do like hits of orange - this looks like a very reddish orange to me which I'm less fond of.

  19. I love this punchy shade of orange! I can't wait to see it pop up more and more. I love it combined with a deep saturated peacock blue color!

  25. I've learned that I love looking at color more than I like living with it (I always seems to get tired of it SO fast, sadly), so I'm not sure lots of orange will make its way into our house, but I think it looks amazing in those pictures! I especially like the 3rd picture in the top row--looks like an entryway?--the pops of orange are gorgeous.

    Have a great weekend! :)

  31. I like. I have two shirts in this color (always get compliments too when I wear them). I have been calling it tomato red. (Looks like Campbell's tomato soup to me. Now I know what to call it!
