Mid Century Madness

I recently spied a chair on Craigslist and I think I'm gonna have to get it.  The problem is that my husband is not in love like I am.  In an effort to persuade him I tried to get the kids on board.  That's the last time I do that.  They both said they hate it.  So that's 3 to 1.

Tell me what you think.  It's a mid century Danish made piece that has a rosewood frame with a stainless steel base.  It's the exact camel colour that I love for leather and it's worn in all the right ways.  You know, worn in but not worn out!
So what say ye fellow hipsters...are you with me or the family on this one?

In an effort to take my mind of this lovely creature I did a bit more browsing and came across an original Baker coffee table.  I am smitten and even though I don't need a coffee table I might have to buy it.

Spectacularly awesome or what?  Where does one hide a coffee table from one's husband if one decided to purchase said coffee table???

  2. You are the champion of finding the best craigslist / thrift {design} pieces. If the price is right I say yes to both items; they have such good lines and are in great shape that you'd have no problem selling if you can't use them. I know that style chair to be very comfortable and the swivel base makes it so practical ... does the mom cave area need a comfy "don't bother mommy I'm thinking" chair? And faux bamboo isn't something to hide! Buy it & use it or send it to me C.O.D. ... I'd so love that in my sitting area.

  3. Ehhh, I'm with the family on the chair. I'm sure you would make it look spectacular though and then I'll eat my words.

I do, however, love that coffee table. Buy it. Now. What are you waiting for?

  4. Love the coffee table--but, sadly, not the chair. I think it's the chrome base: makes it feel a little more office-y. The leather is pretty awesome, though!

  5. I love camel leather, but I kinda love the look of the chair when the pad is removed, great bones.

  6. I'm in love with that coffee table, BUY IT! As for the chair, I think it's a pretty cool find but it's always hard to fight 3 to 1. Good luck!

  7. I like the leather on the chair, but thinks it clashes with the wood tone! Would you paint it?

  8. The first words that popped into my head before reading the chair dilema were, 'Okay, I'm officially jealous!' And then I read on! If you love that chair, don't think twice! Buy it!!! MCM like it and in good shape don't come along on CL every day. And, doesn't the Mom Cave need a fabulous little table somewhere? ;-)

  9. Hmm, only thing I don't love about the chair is the rosewood. I hate when those less gifted in "the find" don't see the potential. I usually don't ask if I don't want to know. As for the coffee table, I feel your pain. I have two extras in the garage and am constantly fighting myself not to bring home more. Do you have a friend that could borrow it till you find a place for it : )

You should participate in my Craigslist Monday series!

  11. Put a beer on the coffee table and he will never notice the table. 3 to 1 are still good odds, put that chair in the woman cave.

  12. What great finds! I'm loving the table a little more than the chair, maybe not worth it if they'll be forever giving you grief over it! :)

  13. I'll take the coffee table off your hands if you don't have the room;). I don't mind the chair, just not sure about the wood and leather on the arms.

  14. That's the sort of chair that will look awesome in place, sort of Nordic Hippy. The leather looks so soft and will go well with any other colour too.

  16. One would hide the said coffee table at a ...ehem....her fellow blogging, thrift store buddy's house??? As for the chair - BUY it! I buy things that most of my family doesn't like, and I just don't listen. In it comes! These finds are in your neck of the woods? Gee....what is up with our Craigslist?

  20. Don't hide it...put it in the room and when he says something, you tell him..."I can't believe you don't remember that". It would take my husband a year to notice.
