Ready or Not for Back to School?

Today is the first day of school around here.  The youngest had 2 hours of class in the morning while the oldest was able to lounge in bed because his school is 2 hours in the afternoon.

Summer is a time of fun and freedom and absolutely no schedule to keep.  I love it and I hate it.  I am a fan of schedules and routine so while I love to sleep in, I hate how little I accomplish in the summer months.  Sad to see it end but I'm looking forward to some new projects and a clean slate to start all over again.

SAYING GOODBYE TO...

SAYING HELLO TO...

What do you think of this time of year?  Love it, hate it or just doesn't matter?

  1. I am with you Carol. It is definitely a love/hate situation. I am not sick of packing lunches yet...but give me a few days...

  2. I love this time of year, for sure! Schedules and routine are a great framework for me to be productive, and without them I find it so easy to push everything back a bit. When summer hits, I'm always ready for the change of pace, but when September hits, I'm ready to get back on track! Your daughter is a cutie, BTW :-)

  6. I've always loved summer and even as a kid, it always felt cut short since I spent much of August helping my mom in her classroom prepare the bulletin boards for the new school year. It's awful for trying to get anything accomplished though and I agree that fall brings it new motivation. Around here with the intense heat, I feel as though we've been through both summer and winter hibernation at the same time. Looking forward to getting out for some fresh air in a couple of months.

  8. I REALLY hate this time of the year :-( I love going to the cottage and swimming in the lake, which comes to an end in September. Booo! We don't have any kids, so our schedules are the same all year round and we don't have the "Yay, the kids are back at school!" thing happening in September. I'd be happy if it could be July all year long!

Once I come to grips with the fact that cottage/swimming season is over, I do like autumn. But it's an awful long time till the next cottage/swimming season!

  10. I thrive on routine as well - as hard as it is to get back into the swing I feel so much better about things. It's so funny b/c I was just thinking about these changes. The gym has been really crowded the past 2 days and I guess because people want to get back into their regular routine. I'm also going to be experimenting with ASCP soon and I can't wait.

  12. I am a huge fan of lying around - I need no bidding to have a nap or relax, so probably for me, back the routine and grind is better...

  13. Love it and hate it! My daughter is homeschooling this year so no crazy wake up times or 3 hours carpooling to worry about but I am so nervous how it will all really work. So excited to say goodbye to summer weather though! You're collage looks like you have fun stuff to look forward to, I think I shall make myself one...in all my spare time : ) xo

  14. I love September and Autumn; the coziness of things to come and the nesting/hibernation mode. Although, I'm not crazy about the rain that comes with it here...Oh yeah, you don't know about that anymore. PS. I'm going to try to get back on the Blogger Book Club train...Is there a book for September?
